As the daughter of two U.S. Navy Veterans, I have become very accustomed to traveling...in all forms. The mere idea of exploring new places is so exciting! On numerous trips, my siblings and I would be so enthused to explore the hotel/lodging. "Exploring" consisted of investigating the locations of ice and vending machines (reporting which ones worked), discovering the pool, and any other amenities there were to offer. I've carried that same zeal into adulthood. However, traveling also means bearing the responsibility of facilitating: booking accommodations, searching for a good deal on a flights, deciding on the best mode of transportation, coordinating childcare, and just navigating through self-care, anxious feelings, financial responsibilities ***sigh*** - in short "adulting."
With the understanding of the importance of REST, I began to view work-related travel a bit differently...especially since I was on the go so often. Self-care is essential and if you do not make a conscious effort, your body will do it for you! So I make a consistent effort to allow myself to rest, live in the moment, and make the best out of every new city and experience. Workations will continue to evolve through my personal and professional experiences. Over the next few months, the blogs will consist of recaps of past adventures and insights into the new ones. Adventure Awaits!!!
